Georgia couples: possible to benefit from a prenuptial agreement?

On Behalf of | Oct 15, 2013 | Prenuptial Agreements |

Georgia residents preparing for marriage may not have considered a prenuptial agreement yet. Some people may not think one is necessary if they do not have a large amount of wealth or assets, but that could be due to lack of information on the person’s part. A recent article discussing the situation between one prominent pairing may show people that a prenuptial agreement can be beneficial to all couples.

Reports have stated that the couple does not have a prenuptial agreement in place and therefore the battle over their estimated $125 million net worth could get ugly. Some experts are using this as a good example of what not to do and providing information on better options available for couples. Those marrying for the second or third time could find a prenuptial agreement especially beneficial.

One of the main benefits is to protect not only the individual, but their children as well. When a person enters a marriage with children from previous relationships, both parties can feel confident that their children will be taken care of should the marriage dissolve. Land, investments, and other assets can all be left to a child. While some people may see this as bad luck for the marriage, it can actually be very comforting to enter a marriage knowing that all of the details are taken of and the focus can simply be on the marriage itself.

Any Georgia resident planning to get married may want to research all of the variables that can be protected by a prenuptial agreement. With the proper research and understanding a person can determine the best steps to take for their specific situation. When a person understands all available options, they can make an informed decision and feel confident that they have made the right decision when moving forward.
