Creative solutions might help to resolve child custody cases

On Behalf of | Feb 20, 2019 | Child Custody |

Your parenting plan is the document that you should turn to when you have questions about what rights and responsibilities you and your ex each have for your children. This plan isn’t always easy to understand but you should do your best so that you can ensure you are always compliant with the terms. We know that you might want to have some say in how the plan is set up. We can work with you to make your wishes are known.

There are two ways that the parenting plan can come about. The first, and usually the preferable option, is that the parents will work together to come up with the terms. The second is that you will go through a trial for the judge to rule on what terms are included. We know that you might not feel up to dealing with your ex, but by taking the time to negotiate with them, you can have a say in what happens.

It is imperative that you try to keep your cool when you are handling this situation. One way that you can do this is by knowing the options that you have before you go into the negotiations. You can also make a list of what you feel is most important in your case so that you can focus on those points.

We realize that you might not feel like there are good answers in your case. We can work with you to determine whether there are good creative options that might work for you and your ex. Ultimately, you have to put your children’s interests first when you have a child custody case.
